All Saskatchewan big game entries must be taken by a licensed hunter, under the rules of fair chase, meet minimum scores and be measured by an official Henry Kelsey measurer. Awards are presented at the annual awards banquet. A records book is published every five years and is available through the SWF Central Office. PROVINCIAL ANGLING AWARDS Each year the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation recognizes members who catch big fish through its Provincial Angling Awards. The SWF Provincial Annual Fisheries Competition is open to SWF members only. Fish are entered into the local branch competition, and their top entries are forwarded to the provincial competition by the branches. Awards are presented at the annual awards banquet. Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation PROVINCIAL ANNUAL FISHERIES COMPETITION Rules & Regulations 1.Competition is open from January 1st to December 31st. Branches are responsible for forwarding their top entries in each category to Central Office by January 15th for the previous competition year. 2.Fish must be legally caught in Saskatchewan waters during regular open seasons. 3.Trophies are only given out to current members of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation. The membership must be purchased before the fish being entered was caught. 4.Besides keeper trophies for the largest fish in each category, trophies will also be given out for Master Angler and Fly Fishing Award. 5.SWF Provincial Fisheries Awards will be given out for the following species: Arctic Grayling, Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Burbot, Cutthroat Trout, Goldeye, Lake Trout, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Perch, Rainbow Trout, Sauger, Smallmouth Bass, Splake, Tiger Trout, Walleye, Whitefish, and Junior awards (16 years of age and under) for Brook Trout, Goldeye, Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Perch, Rainbow Trout, and Walleye. 6.Entry forms are available from SWF Central Office, 9 Lancaster Rd., Moose Jaw, SK S6J 1M8, [email protected] 7.Fish taken by spear fishing will not qualify for any SWF awards. 8.Catch and release will be in the same category as kept fish for SWF awards. All entries (Kept and Catch & Release) are required to be weighed on a digital or government scale, and be witnessed where possible. 9.Fish must be caught with a rod, reel, and/or line (or ice fishing apparatus) and must be played only by the person listed as the angler. 11.Fish caught in private waters, artificially raised to maturity or illegally transplanted from waters outside of Saskatchewan are not eligible for awards. 12.It is the responsibility of the angler to correctly identify the fish. Incorrectly identified fish will be disqualified. 13.All entries must be accompanied by a photo of the fish. Photos become the property of the SWF and the SWF retains the rights to use the photo. 14.The entrant must provide further information if requested by the SWF officials. 15.In its decision, the SWF reserves the right to accept or reject any entry and all decisions of the SWF officials are final. Note: Some branches have adopted additional rules for their local competitions. Please consult with your branch SASKATCHEWAN WILDLIFE FEDERATION ANNUAL PHOTO CONTEST - Photos will be displayed and judged at the SWF annual Convention (February) - Branches wishing to enter the photo contest must have the photos there by the first day of Convention - Photos will be received at the Merchandise Desk by Central Office staff. The following list of rules will be adhered to: 1. Categories: Wildlife (Saskatchewan only, Big Game, Predators, Birds, Fish, etc., no animals in the confines of a park or game farm, no hunting photos. We are asking for Saskatchewan wildlife in their natural state. Humans not allowed.) Scenery (Saskatchewan only, humans not allowed) 2. 8 x 10 (or 8.5 x 11) sized photos (color or black and white). 3. Photos must not be framed or matted for display. 4. Photos can be entered only once. 5. Photos will not be accepted from individuals. Entries must be through the local branch and verification from branch executive must accompany the entry. Branch name, photographer, and address should be on the back of each photo. 6. Competition is for amateur photographers only. Trail camera photos not allowed. 7. Open to all ages. 8. Each branch may enter one photo for each category. The branches will select their entries and monitor the rules for the provincial competition. 9. Lighting, development, type of film used, will be the choice of the participant. Digital photo enhancement is limited to cropping, dust removal, and adjusting lighting and color. Any photo layering or combining will not be permitted. 10. Ballots are in the delegate’s kits at Convention. 11. Photos will be numbered for the display. 12. Ribbons will be awarded to the top three in each category at the Saturday night banquet. 13. Winning photographs will be featured on next year's Convention Book, and the top photos in each category may be featured in the Outdoor Edge Magazine, the SWF web site, and/or SWF promotional material. 14. The SWF is not responsible for loss, damage, or returning entries. Return of the entries is a branch responsibility.
